I've yet to have a shot over 150 yards in Florida/Georgia/'Bama brush.
Army taught me to shoot a lot further than that,
so if need be, going old school is an option ;)

Every rifle I have at the moment is set for 100 or 125 yards.
    .22WMR gets Bunnies & Squirrel & 'Yotes
    .30-30 gets Hawgs & Bambi.

^^^^^ Hmmmm, I never thought of using 22Mag on yotes, surely its adequate. When deliberately hunting them, it was open range where you want "reach" for the reluctant smart ones and pairs when one slows to see what just happened. Had a 12ga for the sneaky ones! I would see a lot in the timber at close range but normally had a centerfire or a shotgun for grouse.. I wouldn't be comfortable with a .22Mag as primary in bear, boar country.

    I tend to combo up...use the Marlin 922M semi-auto .22WMR carbine,
and my G20SF in a shoulder holster just in case other issues appear ;)
Along with a Buck 119...should handle anything I run across.

.22mag is just fine for yotes, however, it does make one be a bit more careful
on shot placement. Head, heart/lung, and Texas Cornhole work just fine.
It's a good close-range caliber for hunting at less than 200 yards.
