Just got my property tax estimate for this year. In total, over 12 milage in taxes; including the S.O., schools, water management, and the library!

Another good reason to let Florida see my north-bound rear end in farewell. TN mountains, here I come.

A Republican candidate for a Florida state House seat is facing questions about whether she actually graduated from Miami University in Ohio.

After questions arose about Melissa Howard’s academic credentials, the state House candidate posted a photo of what she said was a copy of her transcripts to Facebook. She also sent photos of what she said was her diploma to media outlets, the Sarasota Herald-Tribune reported.

But Robin Parker, general counsel for Miami University, told the Herald-Tribune that Howard never graduated from the college and questioned the diploma’s authenticity.

He said the diploma Howard produced doesn't match those issued in 1994 or 1996, the years she claimed she graduated, or any year.

“The picture of the diploma shows that Melissa Marie Fox received a Bachelor of Science in Marketing degree from Miami University on December 20, 1996,” Parker told the newspaper, using Howard’s maiden name. “We have no such record of a degree.”

He said, too, that the university offers marketing majors a Bachelor of Science in Business – not marketing specifically. He also said that while the university president's signature is correct, another administrator's signature would not have appeared on the diploma.

The questions about Howard’s higher education were first reported by FLA News Online, which bills itself as the “conservative choice for Florida news & politics.”

It appears her campaign website is no longer available, and her campaign Facebook page has been removed.

According to the Herald-Tribune, Howard was also dishonest about her rating from the National Rifle Association. The newspaper said she posted about an A rating from the pro-gun organization on Facebook; however, Marion Hammer, a former NRA president who now leads the group's lobbying efforts in Florida, said Howard actually received a B grade.

Anthony Pedicini, her campaign consultant, told the Herald-Tribune that Howard’s husband suffered a “cardiac arrest” Friday so she is “focused on her family – not fake news.”

FLORIDA DEMOCRAT ASKED TO DROP OUT OF GUBERNATORIAL RACE FOLLOWING YEARS-OLD ASSAULT ALLEGATIONS

Howard faces Air Force veteran Tommy Gregory in the August 28 Republican primary. He told the newspaper that “voters deserve nothing less than truth and integrity from their elected officials. Unfortunately, it seems that Melissa Howard has failed that test.”

On Facebook Saturday, Gregory said his “thoughts and prayers” were with the Howards "as they get through their medical struggles with Ian." He also encouraged others to be “respectful” of the couple during this time.

What disturbs me is gun control seems to be the major of focus of the democratic campaigns. No matter who you are from either side of the issue, this should not be your primary focus. What else are they planning to do. If I could find a democrat with a decent pro-2nd amendment stance I would consider voting for him. I do not think I will have a lot of luck with that.
Not only that but they have been known to tell a little lie from now and then. Do you remember the picture of Obama shooting a shotgun prior to his first reign of terror? I used to think that there was little difference between both parties. However, after the last couple elections, I know that is false. Whatever Democrats used to be, now they are socialist at best and many are communists and tyrants. I've never seen anything like it. I'll never vote for another one as long as I live. And they are aligned with the 99% left wing loon media, and they control the education (Or lack of) system, so it's only a matter of time before we go the way of the rest of the world.

Meh Not much different than Scott, Mr anti-gun of FL.. Sold gun owners down the river for his own gain, if he is elected Senator. I am a single issue voter. How is Scott any different than Nelson? Scott will sell gun owners down the river at the drop of a hat.
Whatever issues Scott has, and he has some, he is 3000 miles better than Nelson is. It's not even debatable. I'm on Nelson's mailing list and he is the worst or the worst when it comes to the 2nd amendment and freedom. Nelson is Hillary's male version.

I'll do my part to cancel out one anti-gun vote. So will the Dragon Lady. I resent having to vote Rick Scott to Washington after that knee-jerk reaction (legislation) to the school shooting. Better than Nelson in my book, but I'll always feel like I 'fell on my sword' for the the greater good opposing Nelson.

I am currently researching to move out of Clearwater, Pinellas County to Walton County. ( It seems to have the lower property tax of the panhandle - correct me if I'm wrong ).
Would you say it's not north enough/a waste of time and resources then?

And what does S.O in your post mean?

If those idiots aren't enough, here's another one. Andrew Gillum. This goober says he wants to Ban All Assault Weapons. He wants to legalize pot too. Hmm, how many dopers vs gun owners? Hopefully they'll be too high to remember to vote or they're felons and can't vote.

If you're thinking about Walton County check out the Freeport area, fairly cheap still but growing rapidly since the expansion of the highway to 4 lanes all the way from the beach to the interstate. Really nice neighborhood there called Hammock Bay, home prices are still good but no doubt will go up when it gets all built out.

Sheriff's Office. I do not remember this one from past years, but really rarely looked at it. S.O. was recently awarded a budget increase, wonder if this is how they are funding it?

This graphic of property taxes is Hernando County and the SO is funded that way. When they are not corrupt like Clearwater I don't have a problem. Also most of it goes to school. Huge number of Porto Ricans here now. I don't even have any children so not too keen on paying for aomebody else's kid's school.

    Thanks for your reply

Thank you for your imput! I will check that.
Should start a thread on this topic alone after more research.
