I’m not saying shooting through your own windshield is right or wrong. It would have to be a special set of circumstances for me to make that decision. As far as a PD training their officers to do so would be cost prohibitive. I was a firearms instructor for Md State Police as well as FHP and being accountable for your rounds was always part of my instructions to my shooters while training. I know there’s always extenuating circumstances but officers are trained to keep their wits about them in any scenario. High speed pursuits of armed and dangerous suspects get the adrenaline going and its quite easy to get lost in it. There are simple breathing exercises that can be done during high stress situations that help control the thought process. Unfortunately not enough officers are trained managing stress in those scenarios. Training is everything but unfortunately if officers trained as much as they should, there wouldn’t be anybody on the streets. JMHO
