This is an excellent thread. My first pistol I actually bought was a Bicentennial marked Ruger Mk I .22 Standard. I bought it in Milton while here in the Pensacola area for Flight School. Still have it.

It was 1967 and I was 16 years old. I bought a little .25 ACP Galesi from my brother. I still have it, but I haven’t shot it in many years. Nice little pistol. Maybe I’ll get it out and take it shooting one of these days.

I graduated from the MD State Police Academy in 1969 and five years later I was sent to the UNited States Secret Service Academy for firearms instructor training. It was there that I was introduced to S&W Model 439. As soon as I graduated I purchased a 439 and used it as my off duty weapon until MSP switched to the Baretta 92FS. Like a dummy, I sold the 439 but still have and carry a Beretta 92FS. My first handgun purchase was a S&W Model 36 but the first pistol was the 439.

Colt Service Ace 22LR. Bought it new 1978 approximately. Great gun. Had to replace the barrel about 6 years ago because it broke where the slide stop pin fit. Replaced the extractor too. Still have it and shoot it often. Accurate and looks new.
Also bought a Detonics Service Master .45 about the same time. Still have and shoot it often in IDPA matches.

I know I'll get flamed for it but, the first weapon I bought was a stainless .38 Chiefs Special in the early 80's. Sold it a year later. I know, I'm an idiot

Mine was a Smith and Wesson Sigma 9mm. Upgraded to a M&P 40 for my second gun a few years later which I still have.

I grew up with rifles and shotguns & carried a 1911 in the army, but I didn't own a handgun until I was well into my 30s. My first handgun was a 6'" S&W Model 686 .357 Magnum revolver.

    Makes me feel really old.
Most of these "first pistols" were not even produced when I got my first pistol(revo). ---- SAWMAN

I was thinking the same thing on some of them. It really dates a person. My first one was at 18 in 1992. That doesn't make me the oldest, but definitely not the youngest.
