Just picked this up for what I feel is a good price and wanted to see if anyone else wanted to throw a value out there. Well used Colt US property marked M1911. Serial number puts it as one of 3982 delivered to the US Navy in 1942...although it is marked US Army? She ain’t pretty, but it’s a neat little conversation piece. I can only imagine what faraway lands she’s seen...WWII? Korea? Vietnam?

Considering that the DoD is releasing 10K gun batches of 1911s to CMP for ultimate sale to qualified citizens, prices for avg condition U.S. Gov Property guns will only drop. 1911s With authentication of significant importance (all conditions) will command equivalent higher prices.
IMHO, CMP is over pricing all condition levels and may have unrealistic expectations for 1911s that will be Auction items. I don't recall the total number of 1911s held by the Gov and potentially in the pipeline to CMP: 90K+ . This high quantity realistically reduces the rarity factor and with that goes price. Your advantage now is that if you sell it, buyers won't have to jump through all the new CMP hoops. As hit the street resale market that advantage will shrink.

Based only on one picture and above info: $650 in my non expert opinion. I've seen U.S. 1911s posted here in much worse condition. Replace non-stock parts, control corrosion, a check by a knowledgeable 1911 gunsmith before firing can't hurt. I think you have a nice piece of history there.

Alot of these guns are pieces parts put together in the 50's.... I know I did research on one that my pops carried in Vietnam and values went from 700-1100 depending on condition. Rock solid guns and after not being shot probably since Vietnam but had a full mag in the gun since he came back home, it fired flawlessly. I remember as a kid learning how to break it down and put it back together. I had been so long since I did it, that I had to go back to youtube to learn again!!!

Don't be afraid to shoot it.

That pistol appears to have never been through an arsenal rebuild. It still has the 1942 characteristics of a milled trigger and a wide spur hammer. The edges also still appear to be sharp. With all these things noted, unless there is something on the other side that looks worse than this side, That is a 800 to 900 dollar gun all day long. Maybe more. If you picked it up for substantially less than this, you did very well indeed.
