I thought it was a little high myself. Strikes sound more like a hollow thump than the crack I thought i heard. He did say it was recovered in the wood line.
I'm now shooting Hornady 120gr SST bullets in the 6.8.
Out of my 22" bbl Remington 700, the load it likes gives 2488fps at 10' from the chronograph. My scope is 1.75" above the bore, and the load is sighted in at 1.5" high at 100yd. At 300yd it hits 13.5" low.
Out of my 16" Wilson AR upper, the load it likes gives 2470fps at 4' from the chronograph (closer to the chronograph since it wears a suppressor). My scope is 2.75" above the bore, and the load is sighted in at 1.8" high at 100yd. At 300yd it hits 11.2" low.
I've been using IMR4198 and picked up some CFE BLK to try. It looks like from a pressure and velocity standpoint that H322 would also be a better choice. One of the uppers is a Wilson but I wasn't fond of the additional depth in the chamber. 1st firing brass was +.007.
