Any information about what Trump will be speaking about? Are there any pro-second amendment bills waiting in the wings? I heard that there was a bill for nationwide carry. Is that still in hiding? Has anyone heard about anymore movement on better identifying folks with emotional disorders so that their access to firearms can be limited?

He is going to take some heat for the bump stock ban/limitation that he wants ATF to implement. Is he going to make some concession to the pro-gun movement to alleviate the heat? A few executive orders might be useful.

The NRA apparently has no problem with a "bump-stock" ban. They didn't move to file a lawsuit against it. It was an acceptable concession for them, right?

Smoke and mirrors. Red herrings. "Oh look! Under 21? We'll fight that injustice! Disregard the "bump stock" ban with broad language..."

The broad language in the bump stock ban is a huge issue that can easily be exploited well beyond bump stocks. As distasteful as it is, if bump stocks are going to be banned then someone who is pro gun needs to be involved in writing the language of the ban. That way it can be narrowly tailored to bump stocks. As it stands now, all pro-gun folks refuse to participate of the drafting in the language and the result is an overly broad ban.

The NRA has filed a legal challenge to Florida's new gun restrictions. I have not figure out if it is just the age issue or the restraining order/weapon confiscation portion as well.

BTW there is a huge problem with Florida's restraining order/weapons confiscation and it will lead to mandatory weapon registration. When order comes in take away all of a subject's firearms - how will the police know whether they have confiscated all of the subject's firearms? Registration is the only answer.

As for Trump, normally a politician who nearly betrayed his supporters like Trump did in March would need to come to the meeting with a substantial and detailed proposal to get back in his supporters' good graces. If Trump does not do that then the attendees need to boo him off stage. Ditto for any other politician that jump on the gun restriction band wagon following Parkland.

I'm surprised that anyone would actually attend since it's a "gun free zone". :bolt:

LOL all NRA classes that I have taken (and it has been at least 6 maybe 8) are gun free zones. Seriously?

    Here we go

WASHINGTON — President Donald Trump, who briefly pledged to fight the National Rifle Association after a February mass shooting at a Florida high school, is expected to throw his full weight behind the powerful gun rights group on Friday at an event in Dallas.

At the group's annual convention, the Republican president will emphasize his support for gun rights in political terms in a speech, likely claiming again that Democrats want to take away Americans' firearms, a White House official said. This will be Trump's fourth address to the powerful lobbying group. He departed Washington on Friday morning for Dallas.

With control of the U.S. Congress up for grabs in November's midterm elections and campaigns under way, Trump's remarks are expected to include familiar warnings meant to excite the Republican voter base.

"These things typically are pretty 'rah, rah Second Amendment' types of addresses," the official said, adding that Trump likely will say that Democrats oppose the constitutional amendment that protects gun ownership.

I will just say that talk is cheap. Actions are stronger than words. Lets just see what happens in the future. Will he back up his words with actions that benefit the 2nd amendment?
