I'm just wondering if there are any forum members who collect or shoot cowboy guns?

    NO!

Because I doubt these count, despite how that 94 earned that wear.

Love em. Is that a USFA up top? Lot of folks seem to think they’re nicer than genuine Colts.

Yes - USFA. I have 2 USFA pistols just like that one, and a blue/case colored in 38 special. My Colt pistols are in 44-40, and 32-20. I'd like a 38-40 in a Colt or USFA.

I have had a number of both, but when the price is right, I have to sell.

I was hoping to find someone local with experience "opening-up" cylinder throats, and using a little larger diameter lead (to try to make the 44-40 more accurate).

I REmember seeing a factory tour of US Firearms on C-span (I think) more then a few years ago.. It was pretty nice.. from what I can remember much off the process they showed focused on the hand fitting and finishing.. But it was a nest of years ago..

I like the 1860 Henry of the Cowboy guns and I would like to get a belt and holster made up 1876 era cavalry Indian War style...

    Your Pistol is a beauty

Not sure if I can be called a collector, but I sure do like them!

Here is the family minus one that I recently acquired. Come to think of it, that makes two unique Rugers done with custom gunsmith color case hardening from a distributor special batch that I have bought 'cause they are so pretty....maybe I am becoming a collector! LOL

And in the future you can: Go here and download this simple but useful photo editing program (VuePrint). Its quite simple to use and allows you to among many things, resize, and rotate photos (you need to save them after making your changes). I've been using it continuously since it came out like 20 years ago. Its simple, safe and effective.

I have a bit of gun envy over that SS Ruger Old Army BP! I had a blue one long ago, and a mix of other SAAs that also have come and gone. I really like the entire operating process for both BP and smokeless cartridge models. The additional handling time adds significantly to my enjoyment of them.

I actually tried to make BP, once! After i got started, I never got the feeling that it would deliver a desirable result and decided not to load with it. I ended up pouring a line and set it of with cannon fuse. Burned pretty consistently considering the sloppy pour. Could have hidden a battleship behind the smoke screen. Lol

Since BP is relatively easy to make, I have always recommend preppers have a strong BP firearm or two as they will be fairly easy to feed if cartridges become unavailable. This is another point in favor of the Ruger Old Army as the strongest modern build.

I have a Colt SAA 3rd gen 4 3/4" blued .357. I bought it new over 30 years ago. I'm considering attempting to trade it for a 3rd gen .45 Colt 7.5" if there's one out there.

It is a S&W New Model 3 in .44 Russian that left the factory September 30 1883 according to Smith and Wesson. IT was a grail gun and I still cannot believe I found one I could afford, in great condition for it's age.

The Old Army is a tank for sure. Takes a true .45 cal ball and can be loaded with conical bullets. I took a long time, about two years, buying ones I found but the right stainless with adjustable sights eluded me for that long. Most of the ones I bought before that were to acquire and separate desirable accessories, like a made for Ruger Bianchi flap holster that has long been discontinued.

Hit Armslist and keep looking, you can still find them reasonably priced if you move fast on them.

I guess a question to all what counts as a Cowboy gun??? ie would the Savage 1907 auto count as a cowboy gun?? Bat Masterson endorsed it?? Would a Krag count
one was used to recapture Tom Horn???
