    Email that I received:
    DATE: April 20, 2018
TO: USF & NRA Member and Friends
    FROM: Marion P. Hammer
    USF Executive Director
    NRA Past President
SEN. DOUG BROXSON (R) Pensacola: North Florida Sen. Doug Broxson was the linchpin. When he pulled his support for the Second Amendment and the rights of law-abiding gun owners he became responsible for passage of the "gun control bill." If Doug Broxson had kept his word, the bill would have been killed in the Senate and Senate leadership would have had to start over and bring back a true school safety bill without the gun control provisions. But at the last minute, Broxson caved to threats and promises from Senate leadership and switched his vote and sold you out.

Doug Broxson was one of seven Republican Senators who were committed to vote against SB-7026, as long as it had any gun control provisions in it. But when Broxson broke his word and switched his vote, instead of the bill dying on a 19-19 tie, it passed 20-18. Broxson's selfish betrayal cost law-abiding gun owners an essential part of Freedom, Liberty and Second Amendment rights.
Below is list of the other republicans that voted for that bill

    REPUBLICAN SENATORS Previous Grade

    Aaron Bean (R-Jacksonville) A+
    Lizbeth Benacquisto (R-Ft. Myers) A+
    Rob Bradley (R-Orange Park) A+
    Jeff Brandes (R-St. Petersburg) A+
    Joe Negron (R-Palm City) A+
    Wilton Simpson (R-Trilby) A+
    Kelli Stargel (R-Lakeland) A+

    Doug Broxson (R-Pensacola) A
    Anitere Flores (R-Miami) A
    Bill Galvano (R-Bradenton) A
    Travis Hutson (R-Palm Coast) A
    Debbie Mayfield (R-Melbourne) A
    Kathleen Passidomo (R-Naples) A
    David Simmons (R-Longwood) A
    Dana Young (R-Tampa) A

    Rene Garcia (R-Hialeah) C
    Keith Perry (R-Gainesville) B+

The 17 Republicans listed above, along with 3 Democrats, made up the 20 votes that passed the bill. Don’t forget these names.

I received the email. Broxson turned on us (as Republicans are prone to doing). Look at that list and see how they screwed us.

The bill gave us age restrictions, waiting periods and bumpstock bans. And the part about arming teachers? Not going to happen. They made it prohibitively expensive, time consuming and difficult, and actually barred the vast majority of teachers from carrying. No teachers are going to be armed.

In other words, the Republicans signed a "compromise" bill in which our side receives NOTHING.

Unfortunately, we'll have a bunch of people telling us to just "vote R" in November.

Benaquisto, Garcia and Flores are all on the Judiciary Committee, where all of the pro-gun bills have to pass through. Joe Negron is the Senate President.

    We. Are. Fucked.

The democrats in the senate don't control anything, and yet we are still getting results like it's a democrat majority.

    YETI Drops NRA Foundation

    from NRA-ILA admin@nramedia.org

....Suddenly, without prior notice, YETI has declined to do business with The NRA Foundation saying they no longer wish to be an NRA vendor, and refused to say why. They will only say they will no longer sell products to The NRA Foundation. That certainly isn't sportsmanlike. ....

Well guys, I sure hope we get some pro-gun candidates down the road, or we are what JBryan said. Not sure there are any left willing to run and that can afford the fight.

This is a conundrum for us in many elections. Hopefully we can take care of broxson in the primary and select a progun candidate.

Here is an interesting take on reforming the NRA. Much of our antigun laws were passed with NRA compromises. At least this time in FL the NRA did not compromise.
