I need a local(Pensacola area)gunsmith that knows Dan Wesson revolvers(specifically a Monson manufactured ~1983 model 715). I was replacing the rear sight and as I was tapping in the roll pin, the elevation screw sheared off at the frame. I need a gunsmith that can drill out the elevation screw so that I can replace the rear sight. I have a source for the screw, springs and roll pin, so all I need is for the elevation screw to be removed. I took a picture of where the screw sheared off if that helps.

ANY help with this will be greatly appreciated. Feel free to contact me via PM, e-mail garryjohnson@juno.com or phone(850)748-9690.

    Thanks

What about an easy out? It doesnt look like it would be that hard with a center punch and take your time

    Got it Fixed!!

I went up to JJ's this morning to get the screw removed and one thing I can say about JJ-he is persistent. Evidently, the previous owner had the elevation screw replaced(or did it himself)with an improper screw which was very hard. JJ had to try a lot of different approaches to get it out, and his persistence paid off. Here are some pictures of the gun with the new FO sight I was trying to install when all of this went down.

    BIG thanks JJ.

You would have to ask JJ. He tried so many approaches, I'm not sure which worked and which didn't. All I know is anyone else would have probably given up after the first few things didn't work, but he kept trying new things until he was successful.

I didn't have time to test more loads, but these targets are the best groups I got at the range today. These were shot with my Dan Wesson 715 .357 Magnum with the EWK fiber optic front sight and the Williams Firesight rear sight. All targets were at 10 yards, 18 rounds each, offhand.

The top target is .38 Special, 130gr FMJ factory loaded target loads. The bottom target is .357 Magnum, 158gr FMJ under 15.8 gr of H110.

This gun does all of the work, I just point and pull the trigger.
