That is my only guess also? Most will guess something for roofing, but I would have to disagree with that. It is not homemade either, but of factory origin.

For pulling deck boards. I've used a longer version with a flat bar head instead of the crow bar.

Table top football uprights. One end is beginner; the other end is advanced...

Or what the other folks suggested.

Chapter 2 >> "Pith" Everyone knows what this stuff is, but why did they use it for to package it and sell it in stores? This box looks to be from the 50's - 60's. The only thing I can find is making the Pith Helmet.
the box is 3" long so not big pieces.

Here is one use for elder pith.
Natural Pith Wood Elder for Watchmakers (10 sticks) - Eternal Tools
    https://www.eternaltools.com/pith-wood-for-watchmakers

Pith Wood is used by watchmakers for cleaning tools and for its high absorption qualities. It is made from the Elder tree and prevents grease or oil contamination. Use Pith Wood for absorbing excess oil from a movement or for cleaning your oil pike before dipping into your oil cup.
It appears elder berry piths can be used as floats also

Those are some nice floats BTW, That would be another use.
I guess with the invention of Styrofoam and cellphones (no need for watches) the pith industry has grinded to a swift halt.

It looks like it was used to stamp something. I would need to able to see the bottom surface of the ram. The little trays might be used to hold material. The nail could been used to pass through a hole in the material to secure it.

Yes that is my thinking also, the bottom of the ram is smooth / flat surface. I am thinking it puts a tag of sorts on something ?
