Well that sucks, I guess it is targeted at gun shows?

I could not access more than the first paragraph of the article so maybe this was addressed in the article.

The statute provides that State law preempts any local laws. I seem to remember that there is a possible criminal charge against local elected officials who passes a local law contrary to state law.

There is a state law that preempts local gun laws like this. It's been in the news quite a bit lately. I don't see how this doesn't conflict with it.

The article references a 3 day waiting period, the ordinance says a five day waiting period. Either way the ordinance does seem to be in violation of the statutes preemption provision

So I don't understand. Is this all private sales? It seems to me to be, unless the entire transaction, including any advertisement, transferring, etc, occurs on private property.

Did some research and Pinellas has a similar ordinance. It has been challenged, unsuccessfully so far.

Including any ad,offer, negotiation, acceptance, etc. Of course the criminals will dutifully obey this POS law. Even the cops said it wouldn't work and got council to get unarmed code enforcement officers to do the dirty work. What could go wrong?

Yea, that's pretty amazing. I thought state law precluded this. I wouldn't mind a legal analysis of what else can be driven through this loophole.

i am sure we will find out. Broward county was making some noise about passing some more restrictive gun ordinances.

The counties are actually suing the state over preemption so they can go further; specifically an AWB. Leon just voted today to join the suit at a cost of at least $10,000.

I bet they were just going to beat her to death, not shoot her, so they did not violate their principles.

Tallahassee is becoming North Florida's version of Miami. Wish we could move FSU out of that shithole so I would never have to go back there to watch games.

Sorry to be the one to break the news to you, but fsu is a big part of what makes Tallahassee a shit hole. Liberal professors spew much of the bull shit that makes the news in and around Tallahassee.
