    I too thought, wait they can't make having a "insert item here" a felony if someone bought it while it was legal. It would appear the constitution is out the window.

    Wouldn’t the same apply to bump stocks in Florida. Thise that have them can/should be able to keep them based on this. They should not be made criminals and should not have to turn them in

    I guess we will see on the first case but honestly I haven't seen many wins when they go to court for things like this in the past few years unless they are self defense.

    But yes, legally speaking it should fall under that amendment.

    "Ex Post Facto" has not been held to the common strict verbiage it implies. Generally, it holds well against Legislation decision but not well against Judicial decisions. With the focus that "it was not a crime" applied and allowed PRIOR acts to not be charged/convicted but it has no bearing on acts occurring AFTER the Law became effective. Simply: Fl can't charge you for ownership of a device in 2017 but can charge you for ownership after June 2018 (approx).
