A ethical lawyer is a rare bred, apparently you are an ethical person. But in my opinion that's a rarity, most politicians are lawyers that is enough to sway most folks opinion by its self.

Actually, the overwhelming number of lawyers are ethical. If they are not then they loose their license to practice law.

Silly question.....do you own a gun? And if not, why are you here? Just to upset the apple cart? Just wondering. :suspicious:

    Idoono

I own a great number of firearms, mostly handguns. I regularly compete in IDPA and I regularly teach CCW classes both through the gun club and on my own. I am a member of the NRA and I am a certified instructor through the NRA To my knowledge I am one of the few lawyers who can say that.

I am saddened to see that the majority of you hold my profession in such low regard.

Wow. Plenty of people personally attacking the original poster (which is of course against the forum rules, you know that, right guys?) and his character, based on his profession, but not so many seem to be willing to take up his original point, to wit: Donald J Trump couldn't even pay off a porn star without it spinning wildly out of control beyond all expectations, and therefore, might not deserve everyone's confidence in being trusted to handle more complex things like international relations and nuclear weapons.

I agree that most folks lump lawyers and politician together - however most politicians are not lawyers. The latest estimate put the number of lawyers in congress at less than 40%.

    http://www.foxbusiness.com/politics/the-slow-steady-decline-of-lawyers-in-congress

Interesting, thats not at all what I'd expect to find. Laws are generally written for and by lawyers. I wonder how many of them have law degrees and are no longer practicing? I believe that the ratio would be much higher in state and local goverenment. But I could be wrong it's happened a couple times in the past.

I'm actually surprised noones mentioned north koreas apparent willingness to talk about disarming their nukes. That's a prettt big step down that long road, and I'm kind shocked and disturbed that bat-spit crazy "bigger button" approach worked.

I think that's a better arguement at Trumps negotiating prowess, as opposed to how big of a scum bag bill Clinton or lawyers are.

    ?

Trump has already said there will be no talks with the USA, unless North Korea completely purges their nuclear arsenal first. So there will be no talks.

N Korea was never at war with S Korea. Only with the USA.

You mean after the early 50's, right?
Or do you mean that whole conflict was just North Korea vs the USA, using South Korea as a plying field? I guess actually North Korea wasn't actually at war with USA, it was at war with the world, since the US led a UN force.
But in that case it was just the China vs US(or UN), since North Korea was about as much as a nation as South Korea was at the time, both having finally gotten out from under Japan for what, 5 years?

The point I was making is that North and South Korea are talking and making improvements, and as of this morning NK said they're willing to talk about abandoning their nuclear ambitions if the USA is willing to talk about not instigating regime change. Now maybe that's totally unrelated to Trumps new and aggressive(instagtory?) tactics with that peninsula, idk. But I think it's funny that Jeb21 questions his ability to negotiate, and instead of useing the big easy so-far unimaginable counter we are instead wondering if someone who has an active invitation to idpa(complete with pictures of his current rig) owns firearms.

Also, I think our president has proven that whatever he says doesn't mean a thing. He does 180's mid scentence.

The Korean Armistice Agreement is the armistice which brought about a complete cessation of hostilities of the Korean War. It was signed by U.S. Army Lieutenant General William Harrison, Jr. representing the United Nations Command (UNC), North Korean General Nam Il representing the Korean People's Army (KPA), and the Chinese People’s Volunteer Army (PVA). The armistice was signed on July 27, 1953, and was designed to "insure a complete cessation of hostilities and of all acts of armed force in Korea until a final peaceful settlement is achieved."

South Korea is not a party to the Armistice. How could negotiations with them lead anywhere?

North Korea has been saying for at least a decade that if the US would sign a non-aggression pact, they'd lose the nukes. This is nothing new.

I believe the North Korea promise to have peace talks is another in a long series of feints. If it did work then that would be a feather in Trump's cap.

BTW do we still have a functioning State Department? I would have expected some comment from Rex about this topic.

He's killing it. Absolutely killing it:

TRUMP STILL HASN'T APPOINTED A U.S. AMBASSADOR TO SOUTH KOREA OR FILLED 56 OTHER SUCH VACANCIES

More than a year into his presidency—one marked by continual saber rattling with nations like North Korea and now the looming possibility of an international trade war—Donald Trump still has not appointed a U.S. ambassador to dozens of countries, including South Korea, and the European Union.

As Trump moves forward with foreign policy announcements that have the power to rock stock markets and redefine diplomatic relationships, he does so without input from ambassadors in critical regions around the world. That's because U.S. ambassadorships in at least 57 different posts remain vacant 13 months into the Trump administration, according to the State Department's most recent list of overseas ambassadors dated February 1, 2018.

That is an ignorant statement and is deeply offensive.

Not "ignorant" because I speak from personal experiences. Too many.

"Deeply offensive"? Well then, I'm sorry you're offended.

As for the accusations from Droshki about personal attacks, I'll just clarify:
    I. Don't. Like. Lawyers.
    I. Don't. Give. A. Fuck. If. That. Offends. Someone.

There are far too many people who piss on my Constitutional rights, the ones that friends of mine have come home in an aluminum box for, and the ones that I paid my dues for. By their actions, those weasels don't like me.

According to you, apparently about 40% of them are lawyers...

As for your thread topic, it's shit logic. An affair with the President when he wasn't the President, and the female who makes a living selling her body tries to cash in by going to the press After he's in office. In your brain, this equates to an inability to negotiate with foreign governments?

    ???

Perhaps, she met with a LAWYER or a team of them, and they picked apart the "legal agreement", found a "loophole", and proceeded to lick their lips at the prospect of attacking the sitting President of the United States.

Great bunch of folks. Truly exemplary.

Well I guess I was wrong, since they didn't sign the armistice it null and voids the invasion and whatever role they played in the subsequent war on their soil.

Actually the point isn't so much he slept with a porn star, or cheated on his wife, or even that he paid her to stay silent. The point is that he and the best lawyer his money could buy managed to screw the pooch. I was trying to help you guys out with an example of something he seems to be pushing in the right direction. But by all means, keep focusing on the porn star detail.

Snake eyes you made the point for me. A porn star is not going to have the legal resources of a foreign nation. Her motivations are not complex, she wants money and fame. If a billionaire with all of his high powered lawyers cannot even deal with her and close the loopholes then . . .

You know what - Fuck it - to use your terms so that nothing is lost in translation. If you don't get it by now, if you don't see the train coming down the track -heading right towards this stalled administration then - who am I to try to point it out to you. Just keep pouring out your foul language and your hatred.

Sorry you had bad experiences with lawyers.
