Have you guys heard anything about this? From AR15.com general discussion. I'm just gonna cut n paste OPs responses.

ATF taking license plate pics at range last week

"Rolled his window down and methodically photographed each license plate on both rows of cars. The guy that runs the counter inside told me the agent has been doing that about twice a week for the last few months.
I don't know if that's unusual or not, but I haven't seen it before. Thoughts?"

"Oak Ridge in Santa Rosa county."

"Was a white Ford Expedition. White and blue GOV plate."

Probably one of the many ways they track felons.... simple process. Photograph vehicle, run plates, interrogate and prosecute.

I'm pretty sure that all they have to do is put plate info into the laptop that's in vehicle. Why the pics?

Unless ATF is too poor to have laptop like police, sheriff.

I'm no lawyer... but, I'd imagine it'd be somewhat helpful in court...

Ahhhh, didn't want to go into range and arrest someone and have it turn into shootout at the OK corral?

    -Maybe it's true?
-Maybe the counter guy didn't get his raise, wants to try and deter business as payback?
-Maybe someone just wants to start some sheit?

-Most LEA's have tag readers, which can run and log x-amount of tags per minute. Maybe atf don't have any?

Easy fix. Just back into the parking space or point the vehicle in a direction they can't take photos. Sounds like some bored ATF guys if they're just looking for felons at gun ranges. Maybe we could put them to better use approving tax stamps and decreasing the wait times.
