Wow! 144 hours is a long time which will probably be unpaid for the people involved. It speaks volumes for the dedication of the people that would go through this.

It speaks volumes about the idiocy of the Republican Party who would allow this scam to be passed.

I have no kids in schools. However I do pay school taxes.
I do not wish the urchins any harm. Same for the teachers or other school workers/staff.
Other than that . . . I basically do not care what happens in the schools. ESPECIALLY since I do not hear about groups of enraged parents and grandparents holding meetings, demanding that the schools make a meaningfull attempt to protect their kids.
Tell me,you parents and grandparents that are members here. How many times in the last year have you been to a meeting of the school board,a PTA meeting,or had the sheriff of your county standing tall,in front of you, listening to your collective DEMANDS.

Just after I joined this forum there was a discussion about the school shooting situation.
I came up with a pretty comprehensive plan to make the schools pretty well protected. I searched for my extremely old post awhile back and could not find it.
After some years had passed, and more children have died,I wanted to see if the parents of school children were any more "receptive" to the ideas that I had perposed.
Sadly,I cannot find my old post. But it would be great to see if it were met with any more positive remarks than origionally posted.
    Oh well. --- SAWMAN

Never. Once the Democrats get something, it never rolls back. It’s a ratcheting action. Everything the Republicans are “given” is back on the table for debate the next session.

Rhetorical question. Sarcasm and irony are two of my super powers. It ain't just the Ds, there are enough middle of the road, good for nothings on both sides to make up the third party no one thinks can win. Well, count up the centrists/globalists on both sides and compare those numbers to those of true Ds and Rs, and see what the numbers tell ya. Answer: The third party already won and it spans and rules the sacred "two party" system. How ya gonna root that one out?

IMO, if schools used their budgets to be centers of education rather than clubs/daycare/activity centers they would also have plenty of $ to construct physical security measures that would be much more effective than the feel-good resource officer (primary target), an armed English teacher (primary target), or first responders who are just 20-30 minutes away. First suggestion; entrapment areas. Easily created by installing another set of doors. Cost? Maybe $3-4K, and up from there if you want to add automatic closing and magnetic security locks. And I bet you can find a local business willing to donate labor/materials, for the children.

IronBeard, here is an examlpe of how this works.
Kingsfield Elementary School - - -> It took a year or so to build. While building was underway, there was a big sign out front stating something like . . . "This is your 1/2 penny per gallon tax money at work for the community".
After the school opened, many days the American flag was not flying on the tall flag pole that must have cost several thousand dollars including materials and labor. I go by the school 2-4 times perday and most of the time the flag was not flying on the pole. Some days it was . . . some days it was not.
Frankly,it bothered the shit out of me. One day I drove past the school and the pole was missing its flag. I snapped. I drove home, disarmed, including weapon holster and mag reload, and drove back to the shcool to register my complaint.
I walked into the admin part of the school and asked to speak with the principle. Not available. Assistent principle. Not available. But out comes some flunkie looking administrator.
I registered my complaint. I was told . . basically . . that the custodian that is supposed to put it up and take it down sometime forgets,is busy,or is off that day, etc, etc.
I say that just keep it lighted and fly it 24/7 except inclement weather. She sez . . . "the pole is not lighted". I sez . . . WHY NOT ?? . . . she sez . . . there was no money budgeted for that.
I walked out BEFORE I got into trouble.
Someone apparently was listening to our conversation, because as I was walking back down the hall, the school resourses officer was coming my way. As I passed him I sez . . . "Good morning sir". He didn't even bother to reply. But he did stop, spin around, and stood there looking at me.
I had and overwhelming urge to flip him the bird . . . BUT DIDN'T !! --- SAWMAN

    So.... nothing changed. Got it.

Maybe harness your repressed bird-flipping energy, make a trip out there and fly a Gadsden flag. See how long it takes the "custodian" to take it down.

    Then a POW/MIA flag.

Maybe one of them there "evile froo-its of thuh DEH-veel" Confederate flags.

Cheap ones cost maybe $5 at a surplus store. Would be well worth the entertainment.

On a serious note, there are completely worthless wastes of students' time. Can't one of those be replaced, or the alternative offered, with a "Flag Detail"? Raise the flag at the beginning of the day; take it down at the end?
Probably "too American" and would offend someone.

GOOD. Make them speak up about how this Country's flag offends them. Then ask the ungrateful shits where they'd like their one-way ticket? We have C-130's leaving for all shithole corners of this planet everyday. I GUARANTEE the crew would make room for the export.

OK, schools are safe now. So when do we roll the age to buy long guns back to 18 and repeal the FL red flag laws?

    No, not really.

Actually, I'm gonna make my own post about an issue, because it's totally gonna light a fire under every parent which has kinds in an Escambia County School.

I hear ya. A school is just another local government bureaucracy that moves and acts at the speed of pond water. It is also fact that resource officers are not in those positions because they are so needed out on patrol. They are PR tools, maybe pacifiers for the panicked, possibly a minor deterrent factor, but not security. Case in point, you made it all the way to the X and were on exfil when the RO showed up. I'll keep this short. Point is, the school district is responsible for those facilities, and those facilities could have physical security measures installed this coming summer at a relatively low cost. Considering your example, maybe that particular school could use some CCTV cameras, and someone to pay attention to 'em. Even Walmart has that.....

    IMO . . . FIRST STEP . . . BARRIER. Gotta do it. Yep . . . it's a "build the wall" sorta thing. They work,we all know they work,but according to Pelosi,they are "immoral". Soooooooo . . . ??
We'll . . . not exactly a wall, but a high, well designed fence. All the way around the school. With a central choke point.
It would be fuglie,it would take forever to get the kids into school and out. How about this you "smarter than thou" Americans, allow the Israelis to show us how it's done. How many of their schools have been shot up ??
IMO - - -> the single biggest problem with school security in America . . . is the Americans.
I have seen proper fences/walls work. It CAN be done !! Politically correct Americans are their own worst enemy. If a parent had to wait an hour to pick up their urchin after school, they would be enraged. If their kid got killed in school, they are horrified and ready to take the instrumrnt of destruction away from the entire country.

If I had the energy, I would post some of the links I found when I searched "gun laws in Israel".

EVERYBODY carries a gun. Stay at home moms. Male and female office workers. Then there is the IDF.
Young women. Some 18 years old. Carry M4's,M-16's,UZI's,etc.
Yep . . . things are different there. Things have to change here. Reality bites. Most Americans have not got bitten yet. 20 or 30 in a school is the first steps. There will be more.
    I love it - - -> ban the guns,don't carry a gun in schools . . . BUT . . . for Gods sake,our kids gotta be protected.

That is not the impression I got from reading about gun laws in Israel.

New Israeli gun laws enacted in 2018 adds 500K able to carry and defend.

    https://www.timesofisrael.com/hundr...sraelis-okayed-to-carry-guns-under-new-rules/

During a meeting at the White House on Wednesday, one parent correctly noted, for instance, that it is difficult for outsiders to enter an Israeli school. Most schools maintain only one unlocked entrance that is typically staffed by an armed guard.

But the schools have escaped American-style violence in large part because of measures to confront Israel’s unique security challenge — and not because of efforts to deter troubled youths and lone madmen.

“The guards are there for other reasons, mainly terrorism,” said Amos Shavit, spokesman for the Ministry of Education. He said the guards stationed at schools are under the authority of the police. In large cities, he said, the police and the local authority carry out security patrols around the educational institutions throughout the school day.

Yeah, we want what "Israeli & armed" LOOKS like, without the oppressive government gun control that "allows" it for them.

They have WAAAAY too many rules and hurdles to get approved to have a specific gun and 50 bullets, etc, etc. However, they actually trust their government because it's seen as an extension of their culture, not an outside entity and servant.

The expansion of permits is an indication that their system is still flawed. It's reactionary to global threats.

Our system isn't perfect either, but the Constitution and Bill of Rights were developed to protect this Country from All enemies, foreign and domestic.

The protection of schools will flourish in an armed society, comfortable with the firearm tools, and intolerant of the evil that exists in mass-murderers, etc...
