I have a loved one that in Nov 2017, that I told I was to buy a handgun for her Birthday, which was 01/01/2018.
I have asked her weekly, which one she wanted, and she always stated she was still researching.
Today, she told me had finally decided, and this is what she says she wants.
I am no expert, what are your thoughts.

My respectful opinion. - - -> NO on any Taurus pistol. YES on a Taurus revo.
The pistols have had a reliability problem.
Overall size and recoil would be another consideration. --- SAWMAN

Thanks, she is now looking and researching again, headed far away from Taurus.
Towards Smith & Wesson Shield or Glock 19 and 26

There are several of us here (including myself) that own and carry a Glock 19 or Glock 26. Great guns, both. Interchangeable mags, most parts, etc.
Have her hold and point a Glock 26 with a +0 pinky extension. --- SAWMAN

A shield will fit a small hand and has a good reputation for reliability. Nice trigger, reasonably priced. Offers a choice between a safety or no safety. No safety would be easier to use under stress.

Take her to a range that allows you to shoot and handle different weapons. After she has shot ask her what she liked the most. Trust me here it is the ONLY way to do it for a woman!

if she doesn't like it, she won't shoot it, buy a pink one if you have to.

Just didn't want to sidetrack the gentleman by having to explain the difference.WE carry the "pocket rocket". The 19 and 26 is more for the "girly man".---- SAWMAN

If price isn't restrictive, I think the fn in 45 is pretty close in size, is da/sa with a manual safety, and can even be had in stainless finish.
I think that's about the closest thing to that taurus. I suspect you'll find a lot more support for the fn than a taurus on this(and most) forums.

Take her to a range that rents handguns and let her try some out!

Or pay for her to go to JJ's "oneshot" on here and take his class. He has anything and everything that she can try while there!

Or you can do what I did is keep buying my wife guns until she finds the one she likes and you keep the rest! The above methods are cheaper!

I have a Springfield Armory "XD-s". In my opinion, has the best "out of the box" trigger and the single stack is very comfortable. Just wanna help......

.357 Sig is an awesome caliber. Have you ever had to use it on a hog? Curious about the performance.

On topic, how is her hand strength? That's going to be a big factor IMO. I know ladies than can shoot the wings off a fly at 100 yards but can't rack a slide. If you haven't already, might wanna check that out before you go all in on a semi auto.

F21, absolutely. 147gr Hornady XTP is my choice in the woods/club/backup when hunting gun(Glock 32).
A shot to the heart/lung really slams them. I have a LaserMax in this gun. ---- SAWMAN

If you do choose to go with a semi auto, make sure that she can work the slide. For some ladies that is the weak point of choosing a SD/HD weapon. --- SAWMAN

Don't overlook a revolver, especially for a new shooter. Simple to shoot, simple to load and pretty darn reliable. My wife handles the Ruger LCR in 38 special with ease and range time for her is shooting about 75 rounds about once or twice a year.

Its difficult to recommend a firearm without knowing her intended use and firearms experience. Has she shot a lot and decided on 45APC? Striker vs DA/SA or DAK ? She lkes a pistol over a revolver and can load, clear jams, shoot it effectively and make a clear safe weapon, maintain it and stay proficient in those tasks? I'm just pointing out a pistol requires more effort then a revolver an not insinuating she can't learn to properly handle whatever she chooses.

My wife grew up with guns and hunting. She has shot all the handguns I've owned (-1 safe queen), .22 to .44mag. " Her gun choices": 9mm pistol, then .380 pistol, then a .357mag revolver, then .40S&W and .380 pistols. She only shoots 2-3 times a year, can load, shaky on malfunctions, a very good shot and can clear and make safe, knows the applicable Laws, can't dissemble or maintain. She now wants a CZ Shadow 2!
