I am guessing it might have something to do with the school shooting in Parkland, the subsequent calls for gun control, followed by panic buying.

Ammo online looks fine too! I noticed SG ammo had a note saying there will be a slight delay in shipping due to the number of orders. But all showed in stock and still the same prices as 2-3 weeks ago

Do you mean NO ammo or just out of certain calibers?
    Which Walmart were you at?
    Maybe people are panicking .
I am not playing that game again.

Is the Wally in question scheduled to be closed, renovated or moved to a new location? Might be somthing behind the scenes with their individual Store licence to sell. Since you didn't mention rifles at all, I assume they only sold ammo. Its strange its all gone, even in the crazy times there was unpopular ammo on the shelf.

If there was none at all they must be doing some kind of renovation.
Either that or a rogue manager decided that his store is going to be different from all the others and not sell ammo in which case I would bet his career is about to end.

I asked the lady in sporting goods. Their glass door shattered on Friday. They are waiting on a new door to be installed. Once it's done, they will restock the ammo shelves

I bought a lot of ammo from Western Auto and my local hardware store. Me and my buddies didn't need an ID because the owners knew all of our dads.

I liked that store. They were high on most things but they had things that nobody else did.
I still hunt with the Browning A-Bolt stainless stalker I bought from them.
Who remembers when Mike’s was in that little hole on Hood Drive?
They had some great deals back then.
Jim Cook was the manager and he was all about customer service.
Every Thursday there were gun ads in the sports section of the PNJ.
Mike’s, Biggs and Gulf Breeze Pistol Parlor always ran ads. Those were the days.
