My '70's vintage 700 30/06 barrel was getting tired . Found a takeoff 24" stainless 700 barrel with very low round count . Went to see our friend in Jay . He installed it . Was going to pillar & bed the stock & came across a deal on an H&S hunting stock . Had some play between my barreled action & the stock so I broke out the Devcon . Let it cure & cleaned everything up & went to reassemble . Front action screw was too short . Bought longer ones from Brownells , which I'm waiting on . So if your going to bed a 700 in an aftermarket stock get you some longer actions screws before you start . I've bedded Win 70's , 1903's & Tikka rifles & hadn't encountered this before . Live & learn .
