I recently obtained a rifle in 45 LC and am looking to buy some ammo.
I checked Walmart but all they had was 20 round boxes of personal protection ammo.
Most of what I saw on-line was for Cowboy loads.
I would like to get some plinking and hunting rounds.
    Anybody got a good source?

Midway USA has a few different options for higher powered rounds. I got some Grizzly 265gr loads there, and they carry Buffalo Bore.

Also check out Double Tap Ammo. They usually have a good selection . . . AND . . . some great sales. --- SAWMAN

Double Tap always seems to be running a special. GAOS18 is the current promo code. 35% off and free shipping.

Thanks for all the suggestions guys. I’m thinking I might just buy a box until I decide if I’m going to keep the rifle.
The shipping kills the deal for one box at most places.
Tell me about Double Tap. Do they make their own ammo? Seems like I’ve got some 9mm defense ammo called Double Tap. Same company?
Their price is good with that discount code.
45 Colt is a LITTLE more expensive than the 9mm I’m used to buying.
    Thanks.

    Win 94 Trapper.

Those are neat little rifles. Trappers are almost the perfect brush gun.

.45 Colt is kind of a reloader's cartridge, to be honest. Factory ammo is plentiful but can be expensive. If you are set up to reload, I'd buy up a bunch of the Ultramax, Black Hills or Georgia Arms cowboy spec stuff and blast it all away - then you'd be set with Starline brass and well on your way to some great handloads.

I’ve always wanted one and never see them for sale.
Then, in the past 3 weeks, I’ve come across two - one in .45 Colt and one in .44 mag.
I had a few .44 shells so I’ve shot that one and liked it. Now I want to shoot the .45 before I decide which one to keep or I might just keep ‘em both.
    I like Win 94s.

I'll chime in with my .02. I would keep the .44. Then I would buy the most basic of single stage presses and load my own. The .44 is the most versatile, from special type loads to full magnum. Also has a real rim on the cartridge for better feeding, something the Colt lacks as it was designed for a revolver. .44 factory load choices are infinite as well. You have a trapper, so this may not be an issue, but I've seen two .45 Colt rifles (long barrel) with bullets stuck in the barrel from soft "cowboy" loads that couldn't drive the slug all the way through the bore. Yes, 94's are slick. Mine is a .375 with a receiver sight, which I recommend as well. Enjoy.

SG Ammo is one of my favorite places for bulk ammo. They are a family owned company out of Oklahoma.

I also will recommend keeping the .44 mag. I have a Henry Big Boy in .45 Colt and can not get it to shoot anything(reloads)accurately beyond 50 yards. I tried to sell it recently with lots of interest but no takers. I will soon be getting the same rifle in .44 mag because of it's versatility. Lots more choices in factory loaded ammo and more bullet/powder choices for reloading. Also more choices for a companion revolver in the same caliber.
