Just got an e-mail announcing a gunshow at the fairgrounds soon.
Admission is now $9, which I’m glad because I was always sitting on the fence about whether to go or not although I went more often than not.
Now it’s a no-brainer. They have seen the last of me.

There are other things that I could spend 9 bucks on that would not benefit me as much as the knowledge gained from like minded people that are smarter than me and don't mind shareing their knowledge.
I always come away from gunshows with gained knowledge and some more "stuff".
    I will pay . . and I will be there. --- SAWMAN

Agreed, that’s steep entrance fee. But I also waste more money on silliness like coffee so I’ll probaby go.

I do miss the amount of rare or hard to find rifles that used to be all over the place. Nowadays it’s vendors with the latest gimmick it seems. Used to love talking with old timers bout their old rifles

Anyhow I’ll prolly check it out hoping to be pleasantly surprised

Same people. Selling the same stuff, for the same amount over retail. Gunbroker for me.
However, if particularly bored that day, I know of many worse ways to spend a few bucks in a lazy afternoon.

I guess I would feel differently if I ever found anything there.
I’ve bought one gun in the past several years and that was from an individual walking around.
If they are going up on entrance fees, I imagine they are raking the vendors over the coals too. With all their expenses, the have to charge premium prices.

I bought two identical 7.62 DPMS rifles, this must have been 5 years ago. That was the one and only time I purchased firearms there. I think I bought a holster and some 500S&W brass at some point too.
    But that’s about it.

I agree $9 is a bit much for no more than I seem to find at shows nowadays. As mentioned, new gun prices seem to be retail plus, and I seem to see the same sellers with the same stuff over and over. I still attend them on occasion, just to see if anyone's inventory has changed, but not as often as in the past. I haven't been to one in a while, so I might go if I have nothing else going on at the time. Most of my purchases are online, parts & supplies from Midway, Brownells, Grafs, etc., and guns thru GunBroker, GrabAGun, Buds, Classic, AIM, etc.

I still like going because there’s always that chance something will be there. Sucks the admission fees keep going up though.

The price is too high for me to justify the expense of time and money. Maybe if enough of us stay away they will get the message and go back to $7 again. Very rarely have I found anything that I am excited about.

I plan on going just to get out of the house. I spend about $9 if I eat out for lunch so it's not the end of the world. I don't even bother with the tables with new guns. I like to go to individuals' tables to see if they have anything interesting and worth breaking my wallet out. I've got my fingers crossed that Hadji Shriners will put on another show this summer. That was a good one last year and had lot's of cool stuff there. There was a Swedish Mauser and a P38 that I should have bought.

Not happy about the price increase, but I seldom purchase guns there anyway. I go to learn and check out the stuff I never get to see in shops around town. I'm a gadget guy and I like seeing what is out there. A $2 increase is really not that big a deal to me. Don't like it, but what hasn't gone up in the last 10 years?
