I recently acquired a 50-70 Trapdoor from a member here. I decided early on that I would only shoot black powder in it even though I have never shot the holy black in my 59 years on this earth. Spent nearly a month acquiring various items and knowledge until finally loading up some rounds and heading to the range yesterday. Had to shoot at the pistol range as Three Brothers is closed on Sunday (and I refuse to shoot at Styx any longer). I can safely say I am now hooked as this thing is an absolute hoot to shoot.

Love it been shooting black for over 30 years. The 50-70 was America’s first metallic military cartridge little to much for the smaller men so the took it down a size to the 45-70 and it is still going strong today over a hundred years later.
    Keep your powder dry
