Other than Varget, what is working for you. I've been reading up on Benchmark and CFE 223.

24gr H335 works very well for me in my 16" carbine 1-7 twist.

Thanks, I forgot to mention it will be fired from a 1-8 twist 18" SPR barrel. Just looking for a plinking load until I graduate to precision 77 gr. Heavys.

I load and shoot a lot of 55gr fmj's. Mixed brass, no crimp used, 2.25-2.26" oal, CCI #41 primers.

    WW 748 26.5gr
    H335 25.0gr
    AA2200 23.5gr
    WC844 24.5gr
    WC846 24.5gr

Note the WC844 and 846 are surplus and may not be readily available. Their burning rate could vary from the lot I have. Any of the above loads may need tweaking for your rifle. The WW748 load is my "go to" load used the most and is tried in every new .223/5.56 AR I get. For the most accurate 55gr fmj bullet in my opinion, use the Hornady made ones. I shoot a lot of pulled 55gr fmj's, but they are not nearly as accurate (OK for plinking and full auto fire). Start low and work up with all powders.

I used 25 gr of CFE223 with 41 primers under 69s and it is leaving slight ejector marks on the LC brass I used. Grouped real good in my 18" 1:8 SPR

    +1 for ww 748

I agree on the 748 at 26.5, that is the powder a friend used some years back But 26.4 was book starting point. He wasn't watching his crimp an couldn't get a DPMS 20 inch barrel to cycle them.. After moving to a factory crimper he had great results.
He did use IMR 4198 with his factory crimper loaded out to 24.0 an shot 3024 average an shot great All the testing was with new WW bass @ small rifle primers......
