This reminds me of a great gift I once took because it was a gift from a "buddy" a retired colonel. An upright grand piano 1890 vintage with a claw foot glass balls stool. It took 6 of us to get it out of his house and onto the moving truck, with a safe dolly. I gave it to a Church after 6 months and was glad I did not have to pay the warehouse storage.......

I would rather move a baby grand than an old upright...

Yep, I used to move pianos. You gotta be real careful with an upright. The sound board is way up there and therefore most of the weight is above center. I saw a brand new upright tip over the side of a truck and splatter all over Davis Hwy. because it wasn't secured.

I'm still say that free safe may not be as hard to move as we think. I've moved and still do just about everything imaginable and work with a former combat engineer and he always figures the easy way to do stuff, We just moved mine at about 800 lbs. Easy, no strain and only 2 of us.

Had a coworker that said he helped move a safe one time and they rolled it on a bucket full of golf balls. Another old man I know said he helped move one years ago and they dumped bags of ice out and slid the safe.

Well I guess I owe several people an apology as I didn't now the bottom of the safe is rusted out! I really appreciate the last person that looked at the safe because he helped move it towards a clear area. Please close this thread and thanks gcgf
