Figured I'd post up some pics, still waiting on my 30rd C-Mags and my BCG and she will be complete. I don't think I care too much for the big quagmire rail, thin I'm gonna swap it out to a slim key mod. Nitride Delta Team BCG, PSA Enhanced Lower, Magpul CTR and MOE grip, Vortex 4x16x50 Crossfire 2.

Looks good. I contemplated for a while doing one in 7.62 but never pulled the trigger. Much cheaper ammo than 300 blackout.

Not high quality hunting ammo. I consider a 7.62X39 hunting gun a reloading must. (This is another reason that I would opt for a .308" bore gun)Remembering also that you can use the heavier .303 British bullets. ---SAWMAN

After much research I picked up 1000 rds of Wolf Polyformance Hollow points at the gun show this weekend. That should hold me over for a while

I was thinking about doing a 7.62x39 build but read alot about how it was not reliable in the AR platform. Is this true?

FYI . . . those steel cased (Wolf,PPU,etc.) HP's perform like a FMJ. They will punch right thru with minimal expansion.
IMO . . . best you could do is hit 'em square on the shoulder. --- SAWMAN

From my limited research the reliability mainly falls on the magazines. Supposedly there are some prettygood ones now.

If you have the basic knowledge of the AR system, if you will take time with the assembly of the weapon,if you will use quality parts on the gun and mags to feed it,you will have an absolutely reliable weapon.
After the weapon is put together, take the time to smooth everything out, including the underside of the mags feed lips. Also make sure it is properly gassed. It will be like any other AR. You will end up with a great weapon.
I also believe that this chambering is pretty much as accurate as most any other AR chambered weapon. ---SAWMAN

From all the gel tests I watched the wolf hollow point did expand. I will use the Hornady SST when I want to take it after deer. I also picked up a few of these little toys at the gun show. Wonder what one would do on a hog noggin.

My research led as far as reliability was much of what Sawman said. I also found very good reviews of the C products Mags and helping tame the feed issues. My BCG has yet to show so I have not had a chance to run this one yet.

Have you shot any yet? I'm curious but not curious enough to blow $3 on a target. Gonna save them for a shtf scenario.

I have shot the 5.56 version thru a single shot NEF Handi Rifle that is chambered in 223Rem in the civilian world. During my time in the military I have put thousands of them thru various weapon systems.
Shooting thru the Handi they were pretty accurate with a lower powered scope. IIRC about 3 inches @ 100yds. They WILL ignite a flammable liquid. The typical tracer rd will not.
CAUTION: if the .308" version were loaded into a 300BLK, the blazing velocity and the thunderous impact inertia would surely upset the earth's normal rotation and could be directly responsible for a nuclear incident involving the uncontrolled splitting of the atom. ---SAWMAN

Should be fun. BTW Aim surplus has the slowest shipping I've ever seen. On my 8th business day after shipping and still no BCG...

Any updates on this. I have a receiver that is begging to get built. Wanted to do something other than 5.56.
Been doing a bit of research on doing a 7.62, looks like a fun rifle when it functions right.

A little update here. Replaced the rail with a Seekins and added a muffler. Picked up some bacon yesterday a little over 100 yards. One was a head shot the other a neck shot.
