Getting ready to rebuild my fathers 1911, I know the Recoil spring needs to be replaced and I'm thinking of upgrading other parts. Any recomendations on parts which ones are good and which are not

I replaced some parts on a springfield and used brownells reviews as my guide parts wise. I did a beavertail / hammer, sear, mainspring / housing, trigger etc. The site is really easy to use and in my experience the reviews have been spot on, no issues with any of the stuff that I have gotten that had primarily good reviews.

Recommend Wilson Combat, Chip McCormick, Brown or Les Baer parts, Wolfe springs. All parts may require some basic smithing for proper fitment. Take the time to make it smooth.

I know what you mean, I can't go to that site and just buy one thing.

Thats kinda of what I am looking forward too, Nothing like shooting a pistol that you know you have upgraded, kinda of like a hot rod builder

Clark Custom in Shreveport, La. Multple championships with the guns he builds and supplies parts for. I've got a Clark bushing, ejector, mainspring, and a king trigger.

To me, it is as much fun tinkering and fitting parts in 1911's as it is shooting them. What parts specifically are you going to replace?
