I don't care what anybody says, there really are good snakes. Every time I've had to kill a copperhead, or the one rattlesnake I've killed, I hadn't seen a black racer or oak snake for weeks beforehand. When I see lots of black racers, or one big oak snake, I never see poisonous snakes. I let the bug and mice eaters have their way, to a point of course. I'll sure as heck move a 5 foot racer out from under my front step before Mrs. sj1 gets home. Straight out under the shed, where he'll do some good.
Even if the bigger non poisonous snakes don't actually eat the venomous species, they compete for food and territory. If a skinny little racer eats every baby rat it finds, there won't be any grown up rats for the rattlers to hunt for, for example.
I do have to kill a copperhead or two every year. They find their way into the yard, and that's where my grandbabies play.
    Just my $.02

I have not found a green snake in years....

That's the first one I've seen in 10+ years! Maybe Obama would give me a grant to research their disappearance..a cool 3 mill should do the trick! They're the most laid back snakes I've ever picked up

I found a few of the little green guys on top of a metal building this summer. There was an overhanging Oak tree that I'm sure was their access point. They seem to thrive in all the wet leaves.

Wow that thing is huge, how many ft was it? I've only seen one, it was no where near that big.

No, not huge....they have it on a catch pole so close to the camera it looks it... can't believe folks still fall fer this crap.

Earlier this week found under a sheet of old paneling. I mainly see water moccasins and the occasional copper head. No pygmy, canebreak, or diamond back rattlers ever for some reason and also no coral snakes. A couple of rounds of .38 spl shot loads for this one.
