So I bought this High Standard 1911 and for the price I was skeptical but to my surprise it turned out to be a sweet shooting gun for less than 500 bucks, needless to say I am pleased with the smoothness of the gun. The action is decent for a gun of this price. I would not hesitate to buy another and the stock grips are to my liking. I have big hands and it fits me nicely. I think these are made by armscour (sp) in Vietnam.

I put two mags through it today and it was flawless on the premium ammo, have you ever tried the lesser quality ammo in yours?

You would be amazed at how many different brands of 1911s are made by Armscor. As far as I know they are based in the Philippines but they may have other factories.

I also have a High Standard 1911 that I keep stashed in the back part of the house. I have zero complaints. I won't hurt your feelings and tell you how much I paid for it but let's just say the guy needed money really bad. A gun shop had it on consignment from the owner. I had them call him and ask his bottom dollar and it was low enough that it went home with me. I have shot a ton of cheap stuff through it with no issues although I have never shot any of the Armscor ammo. It eats my light reloads just fine and puts the brass in a neat pile.

That's good to hear, I am gonna customize a nice little spot in my service truck for it. It can keep the shotgun company.

ARMSCOR has a Loooooong history for making decent quality firearms...
previously known as Squires-Bingham (British Owned).
After PI gained independance, S-B started looking to sell,
a group of Patriotic Phillipines came together and bought S-B!
At first they just copied the English designs and made money...
then they started getting Inventive...coming out with new designs,
and great copies of older JMB designs...
and the .22TCM, which IMHO, is far better than FN's 5.7 :D
