I think we need to do a better job of staying on top of the Obligatory Bikini/SFW thread. It's been a while since it's had posts......just a suggestion. That's all. No big deal. Just sayin'.

I promise to post some babe pics soon but I really would like to get some mutual discussion of a literary nature here.

Man cannot live by boodie alone (trust me, I tried).

OK, All that sounds good to me. I'm pretty much a slut when it comes to books, I'll read anything. LOL

Gunsmithing and reloading would be great reads but on further thought that soert of thing might be better down in the other threads.

I'm wide open on SCi Fi/Fantasy though. Ian mentioned the Mark Tufo stuff. Zombies, aliens, all covered. Do you have an eReader?

OK GCGF members, somebody pop in with something. Don't let me and rsekerka73 go down the wrong path and end up divorced over porn.

C'mon Hoss! I saw your book list on Nook friends. We both have damned near identical libraries and plenty to lend.

I know you guys are doing things other than shootin' and bothering your poor suffering wives.

That's just cuz you ain't read gud stuff.

I've read books that scared the shit out of me. Literally. Couldn't sleep for nights. I've read books that gave me amazing ideas for handling life situations. Books that made me understand (at least a little) what our forefathers went through so that I could sit here and type bullshit all night. I've read novels that taught me the kind of stuff that, ....... you get the picture. I refuse to believe that there is one person out there that would not enjoy a good book. You just gotta find something that interests you.

"Clan of the Cave Bear": You want to understand survivalist mentality, what it takes to live at a basic level? Read it. Can't get more basic than 1,000,000 years BC.

Westerns: Live by the gun, die by the gun.

Rise and Fall of the Third Reich: Get the inside scoop on why the USA ended up in Europe, dying by the thousands for this country to survive.

The Gulag Archipelagos: Understand why Russia sucked big time for most of the 20th century.

War and Peace: More of the above

Hell, autobiographies or biographies of early firearms designers will open your mind to where our hobby comes from and give you an understanding of the why's and wherefore's: Kalashnikov, Thompson, Browning, etc. You want to know about firearms? Get into the heads of the guys that figured this shit out.

C'mon guys, expose us all to this knowledge. The more we all know, the better we may be able to handle the future.

The phone book??, sorry I don't read, wastes too much time for a leisure activity.

C'mon Frank! I actually dressed my first pig Saturday night. I had to read up on how to do it. I butchered the damned thing but the next one will turn out perfect. If you had been there you could have saved my ass!

I've gone through all of the Mark Tufo Zombie fallout books, and am currently through the 2nd of the Indian Hill series, which just for the record... I had no clue had anything to do with Aliens when I started it, and I was pretty surprised by the proceedings. I just saw that Mark Tufo had another series so I figured it was something about zombies and downloaded it...

I'm up for anything that is up on Audible, because I don't actually "read" the books! Next up for me is going to be the last Indian Hill book and then I was thinking about "reading" the other Marcus Luttrell book "Service: A Navy SEAL at War".

OK, sounds good. I'll look it up and might download it. I need a change from the usual.

Speaking of change from the usual If anyone wants to read a truly epic (size) book that makes you really think, has lots of dry humor and leaves you with more critical thinking skills try "Infinite Jest" by David Foster Wallace.

I'm almost through "full black" by Brad Thor and it just dawned on me that it is very similar to Rainbow Six, not a bad book, just not real original.

I think that I am going to get a translation of Dante's Inferno next...

For now I’m deep in the post-apocalyptic stuff and recently have read:

Wool, Shift and Dust by Hugh Howey

The Remaining series by D.J. Molles

I’m currently reading Breakers (book 1) by Edward W. Robertson

I really like Molles best of all – he knows guns and knows the terminology. The other two authors are good but call the bullet holder thingy on modern semi-auto firearms “clips”. :mmph:

I recently read Chris Kyle's "American Sniper" and found it to be a great read. I know most have read this already, just wanted to put it out there. Pretty short book but good none the less. Chris Kyle was a true patriot and one badass guy!
Speaking of patriots, I also read "Patriots" by James Wesley Rawles. Also a good read and required reading for preppers!

Both great books, check out Survivors too, covers some of the same material initially, but is a good read.
