I shot a USPSA classifier match in Hattiesburg on Saturday. Out of 6 classifiers, I only shot 3 that will count, but they should be high enough to bump me to A class in Limited. That will make A class in 4 divisions, which means I should probably stick to one division for a while. But with the newly updated high hit factors, making Master just isn't in the realm of possibility right now.

The USPSA classification updated overnight, and I am indeed now an A in Limited. In the past, bumping to A mad me want to switch divisions. This time, it makes me want to practice harder.

Voting tomorrow. Oh, sorry, the Title is what I did today. I worked so I can afford to have a gun today before Dave Ramsey talks to my wife tomorrow.

I voted today too. It's gun related because I had to remove my EDC before entering, something that is extremely rare for me to do as I don't go places I can't carry.

Beat the weekend rush to the range to check my progress on getting the Tech Sights zeroed in on my Ruger 10-22. Made one small adjustment and on at 25 yards. Played more with the Marlin Papoose, I think it will tighten up as I get used to the trigger better!

The brushed out areas were big bore hit from a previous use of this target.

I shot at a public range 20 minutes from my house run by the Louisiana Department of Wildlife & Fisheries. They have a 50 foot pistol range, 100 yard rifle range, shotgun/trap/skeet and an archery range. No cost to use the pistol, rifle and archery ranges, $10.00 for shotgun but they supply the clay targets and throwing machine. Also, they provide target frames, targets, eye and ear protection, ice water with covered fire stations. No drawing from holsters but a nice range with a RSO on duty. Not many IDPA or USPSA clubs around so it will be a couple hour drive to matches. It is still hot as I remember it here. We start Friday night football tonight with temps into high 90's.

I wish there were places like this around. Where I grew up in B'ham there was the Cahaba Wildlife Management Area about 10 minutes away. They had a free(donation box) handgun/rifle range out to 100 yds. And they had a hilltop cleared off for throwing skeet. Granted there was no RSO. Occasionally there were jackasses out there, but no more than what you see at any pay range these days. Since my parents didn't own guns, my friends and the availability of this range are what I have to thank for my interest in guns now. We went out there with AR's, AK's, and ziploc bags full of cheap surplus ammo and had a ton of fun, and things were safe. And we'd do it all for about $20 a person(including ammo). I miss those days.

Although lately, a range without an RSO is not what it used to be.

I’m pretty tickled about snagging a old Remington 513T MatchMaster this week. Markings on barrel says it cam out of the factory April 1952.
Shoots pretty good with Federal Bulk ammo.
5 shots in one raggedy hole from 25 yards with these 65 year old eyes.
Gotta get me some match ammo and stretch’em out to 50 to get back to my old humble self.

Cover hole with a dime is DAMN good for me.

I love those rifles.. Had a chance at one that was one of the Military versions.. But Nooooo I was to smart to get then.. I waited for a cheaper price... AND I AM STILL WAITING.... There is a lesson there but I will be darned if I can put my finger on it..

Any chance of getting some full length photos??

Got it for the price of a new plain jane 10/22.
Maybe thats all its worth,,,,but to me it has the sham-wow factor being made out of steel and wood by craftsman that aren’t here any longer.

Wow, real nice, Moocho Moocho thanks... That front inner sight post is so nice.. Agreed on the workmanship on those 40s & 50s 22 Target rifles.. I can not get over some of the Mossbergs.. Can not imagine what they would cost to make today. By the way love the Avatar, but as much as I love Chuck with an M76... But nothing says class better then a night scoped BAR in a smoking jacket..
