Took my grandson on a photo safari today. Lots of big game. I was holding my grandson on my lap so the wife got to do all the shooting. Also saw wilderbeasts and other non predator animals.

I think you two missed the mark, or at least MY mark in making the post.

The rifle sold 5 years ago at a premium price as a caliber flexible rifle. It could be changed from 5.56, to 7.62x39, or 300 BO, by buying barrels, receivers, and bolts as needed.

Within two years of introducing the model, they discontinued it and stopped making parts/pieces needed to support the mulit-caliber claim. They kept enough parts for repairs, but not for caliber changes.

As I remember, this was just before them launching into their Legion line. It must be a money maker, as you have to listen to almost an HOUR of Legion ads and others before talking to a rep!

Some of those ads were for short reset triggers for their pistols, that they would install for a cost...and the comments above kinda reflect that. At legion prices, why is the short reset trigger not a standard function?

To me, they are dead...forget about them!

I understood your frustration, I was adding that its a wider problem than just a caliber kit. Sig went from the model 556 added P556 and 556R then dropped them, produced the 556xi, P556xi, 556xiR then dropped them: all in a short period of time and proprietary Kits/parts is a problem. Begs the question of how long will the MCX be produced and its caliber change kits be available? I think Sigs attemps for mil contracts drive their civ product line to recoupe R&D funds expended without getting contracts. However, my Sig rifles have always run grea, I don't intend to get rid of them. YMMV

Cast some 30 caliber 173 grain 311291 bullets for use in my Swiss K31. A good friend gave me 20.75 lb of lead which my testing showed to be linotype. Yeah!

Received email from Jürg (Swiss Army officer that was issued the P49 (SIG P210-2) I now own). Where he's now in the Alps received fresh snow for Christmas. He checked with his family and they said send your officer's belt and buckle to me to go with the pistol and holster! It's gold/brass colored buckle with a Swiss cross in the center and edelweiss flowers in the 4 corners framing the cross. He's also sending a group of Swiss military collar patches and shoulder patches he won in an auction for me that contain among them the correct officer specialty patches like he wore on his uniform. I am truly blessed by him and his family.

    Beautiful country there.
You are really lucky to be able to receive these items from him and/or his family.
You are now responsible to treat these items with the military respect that they deserve.
    Great diplomacy Bruce. --- SAWMAN

Sounds to me like you’ve made a good friend.

I think so too. At first his communication (and mine to him) was rather "formal" and not so personal with formal German greetings and otherwise strictly in English, now it's just first name with German mixed with English for me to translate and more relaxed sentence structure. I don't know if his daughter in law sees all the communication, but she is fluent in German, French, and English and lives next door to him. Among the patches are 2 driver specialty shoulder patches. I'm keeping 1 with the driver's K11 and sending the other to the grandson of the previous (deceased) soldier/owner of the K11. Oh, Jürg's Army unit was the 7th Company of the 43rd Infantry Battalion. The 7th Company contained the M113 APC 25 men maintenance unit he was in charge of along with other logistics/maintenance units for the Battalion.

It has been my expierances that the Swiss are a friendly, pro military country.
I have been on several military exercises that started out in Stuttgart Germany that eventually spilled over into Switzerland.
At one point I was hiding in a ditch. A very old man driving a horse drawn cart loaded with hay came rambling down the rural dirt road. I came out of the ditch looking like I had been rolling in mud, with a face paint blackened face, neck, and hands.
I tried to explain to the man that I needed a ride. He motioned me to get in the back of his cart. He was amazed when I started pulling hay over me but he jumped down and helped me.
We went along for about an hour. He stopped three times and talked briefly to friends/neighbors and when we finally got to the other side of a small village I called to him to stop. I jumped out and he offered me water from a old, military looking canteen with a cork stopper. I offered him some German paper money but he refused it.
I had only 18 or so clicks to go to "safety". I hid on the tree line of a strawberry field until dark, hit the train tracks, and was on my way.
Great times, lots of learning expierances. --- SAWMAN

It's hard to imagine a more slender, younger Sawman. Sometime, if available, I'd like to see a pic of you in your military prime.

I got my prisoner ID papers from that exercise somewhere around here. Possibly in my safe.
Gotta dig them out. It was a "Fleet Dear" . . . I believe 1980. NATO games. All the strawberries you could eat.
To this day, strawberries are not my favorite. Never trust a USAF navigator . . . ON THE GROUND !! ---- SAWMAN
ADDED: This was my induction tag. The bottom half was torn off when I went to my cell..
Got another document with my picture on it . . SOMEWHERE . . still looking.

Here. It was in the picture for "display purposes" and would never be put on a pistol.....

    https://www.opticsplanet.com/battle-arms-development-milspec-lightweight-butt-stock-accessory.html

The sba3 has a quick connect points on the stock.

Thanks. I didn't realize it was a minimalist buttstock.

I thought it was "hollow" like a scope ring, and the "hole" was profiled to fit the buffer tube and adjustable rail track so you could position it and lock it in-place. If so, then a sling on a pistol should be fine. It's the fact that that piece is actually a "buttstock"...

Learn something new everyday. Happy Three Kings Day!

Edit to add: I guess I should have noticed from the shadow that it wasn't "hollow". :)
