My Green Mountain 300 Blackout 16” bbl arrived for my Sus Venator build. Got notice that the Magpul Hunter stock for my Ruger American Ranch Blackout is due to arrive Tuesday. Been waiting about a year for the stock. Olive Drab is what I ordered. Sawman has the tools for applying the correct torque to the stock bolts.

Today, I shot with my wife and kids. I'll be cleaning the firearms in a minute. My Mossberg 930 was sent to the factory for repairs, and seems to be functioning properly. After some Federal Maximum 1 oz slugs, I'm not. The field loads were much friendlier. Both of my boys got to shoot some 10/22. The wanted to do the Glock 23, but my oldest just started doing .38 so that's not happening yet. I will get to take the 10/22 apart fully as I finally have an inch # torque wrench.

I always enjoy reading about Family range time. Every minute and round spent is an investment in OUR future. Probably not your first outing, none the less: Well done. Soon to be a Army of One Reinforced! Lol

Thank you! My oldest loves the 22 AR. He's also very serious about the 4 rules and I give him more room to shoot than I did my Mother In Law. My youngest is still not mature enough to be given any room to fail. He's getting there, but I hover over him when we go. I got them both Lifetime Sportsman license before they turned 5. It was $400 if you did it before that age, so some of our tax returns went to getting them squared away for life.

That $400.00 :usa2:for Florida or Alabama?

It's here MYFWC.com, in Florida. If you have a child and want them to be able to hunt and fish here for the rest of their lives, it's worth it. The day they turn 5 it jumps $300, then again at 13 to $1000. The license is good even if they decide to move to another state too.

    details...

    tasco or burris?

    :behindsofa::sorry:
    Centerpoint... Walmart special.

It's a trijicon accupoint tr23. A little overkill but I wanted something I could punch out to 6-800 yards with ease. This should do it.

Finished up the Saiga "redo" conversion I got off the forum. For a recap:

Welded up the extra receiver holes
Milled a hand guard retainer slot for a new retainer.
Welded up all four of the old barrel pin locations
Pressed on a new gas block, drilled and pinned.
Re installed the AK74 style front site in a new proper location at the end of the barrel then drilled and pinned.
Removed the gas piston and installed a USA one.
Installed a half moon AK74 brake after drilling it for 7.62 ammo.
Removed the mag release and added weld to take up the slop and filled back down for a factory look, re installed and re pinned.
    Installed a Russian rear site.
Removed the old furniture and installed wood after refinishing in red.
Re finished the rifle in Cerakote

Glad I'm done, it was too much work and took way longer than planned.

Received my Magpul Hunter American stock to fit my Ruger American Ranch Rifle in 300 Blackout. Rifle fits right in, but will not feed with 3 Ruger AICS magazines tried. Bolt does not make contact with the base of the cartridge. Mags click into place. Height of mag in action is determined by the mag catch and the mag catch nub on the back of the mag. Cannot file on the mag to make it fit higher. Magpul does not make AICS type .223 mags. Mag catch nub is in the same position as the Magpul AICS .308 mags.

Called Magpul twice. Advised to buy a .223 mag made by Accuracy International. Apparently they are no longer made (not on AICS website) (and listed as out of stock at various dealers). Asked Magpul exactly what made and model of mag the stock was tested with and functioned fine with...awaiting answer. AI STYLE .223 mags are out there, but cannot find a real Accuracy International made .223 mag. Magpul Product Manager posted on Aug 19, 2018 that Ruger AI .223 mags would work. Nice looking stock, but function is NO-GO so far.

ANYONE HAVE AN AI STYLE MAG IN .223 I COULD BORROW?

I have not tried or bought either due to Magpul posting Ruger mags that I already had would work. Waiting on Magpul before I throw more money at it, especially since tech support at Magpul said to use AI brand mag in .223 which do not seem to exist.
