Im building a house on a small piece of land. I want to put a shed on it, and I was looking for opinions/ advice on kits or pre-made sheds. Any sheds to stay away from? Should I concrete pad it or just put gravel down?

Im thinking something bigger than a 5x5 but Im not able to put up something massive and put a reloading room, home gym, Indoor archery range and still have space to park a fleet of 4 wheelers. :)

You can get repo's of those prebuilt ones for good deals. Just keep your eyes open at the "Shed shops" and call them from time to time. I have a friend at work that got one about 1/2 the price of new and my grandparents did the same. They were both in almost new condition.

    buy. 20’ conex shipping container
its lockable and not easy to break in to

If I could bury one and have an underground shooting range, I would. I don't think my wife will go for that though. :)

Shed shops in Pensacola? Like "Tuff Shed" and "American Shed & Yard Buildings inc" ?

Do you have a specific one you like?

For what you will spend on a prebuilt wooden shed you can have a metal building much larger in size.
    Check out r&k buildings
You will want a vertical roof. Horizontal roof is not the way to go but does save money. They also aren't as nice.

Try to find a milsurp aluminum shipping container. No rust. Look up Danny Weekly in Milton. He's got a few of them. This one on the GovPlanet website is only $525

Shipping container - get a high boy - tall roof. Go for the full size. If you get two then you can buy a prefab roof to go between the two which gives you a great covered area.

If you take care of them they look nice.

If you get them with doors on both ends then you can weld in a wall and have a secure storage for whatever you want.

The high boys are nice to convert to living space as well.

About 5 degrees cooler than the face of the sun! While I was in the the Reserves I spent a couple of Annual Training assignments assisting US Customs inspecting and searching shipping containers in the Port of Jacksonville in the summer. The shipping containers would get hot enough to feel the burn through nomex flight gloves. BTW, there are odors in those containers that is difficult to get rid of! (Think rubber products.) Good luck!

Yeah, if you seal up a metal box and leave it in the direct sunlight, that's one version of a "solar oven".

As is unmodified, I wouldn't store perishables in one, and I would put it in a shady spot, or setup a carport or something over it.

However, you can just as easily get creative by installing something like the vents on a home's roof, or even a cheap window a/c unit, if you are running power out to it.

These metal beasts are designed to withstand the rigors of the repeated abuses of airlift and/or sealift.

Once stationary as a "permanent" structure, take advantage of the structural strengths, and add the climate control measures.

Probably paint every surface available, too, to protect long-term. Especially the bottom. Rustoleum, rhino liner, whatever. Then paint it for "looks", later.

You can also cover with dirt and plant them. I know someone that built a mound around some containers. He had to mow it but it stayed cool.

Additional info - Im only on a half of an acre. Not enough room to do a whole lot, but I do like the milsurp aluminum option.

Im guessing my wife wouldn't let me bury anything in the backyard. Should have held out for more than a half acre. :)
