Recently acquired a beautiful 1942 model M1 Garand and am looking for rounds to fire. Bulk or boxes, I don't mind so long as it's the right stuff. I hear running standard modern 30-06 can damage the gas tube and cause permanent damage to the firearm, and the last thing I'd wanna do is be the first bad owner in this rifle's heritage.

I'm over in Milton. Comment or shoot me a PM. Thanks!

    Congratulations on your M1!!!!

If you haven't found any, I have a couple boxes, I'll willingly share with you. No money, I think it's great you have a M1, this won't hold you for ever, but it's should allow you to become familiar with your rifle.... Until the ammo shortage, or more ammo becomes available...

I'm in the Cantonment area. but I'm on the road a fair amount, I can take it with me.... I'll be in Pace doing a walk through today about 1...

Will sell one can of 240 rounds of LC68 M2 ball for $215 that I just opened to make sure what's in it for you. Subtract $5 if you don't want the ammo can...I can always use it. Non corrosive; boxer primed. I opened a shipping box, opened the can inside, opened a couple of the boxes inside, and looked; I did not open every box, but both opened were LC68. 12 20rd boxes per can. It was delinked and put into cardboard boxes, as one can see where it had been in links. When I shoot it, I simply do a quick wipe of the ammo with a rag just to make sure there's no particles stuck to the brass. I live 5 miles north of Whiting Field.

You do not need WWII ammo and just about any military ammo in 30-06 will correctly function in a M1 Garand. There is some commercial loadings that are properly loaded for the M1 garand also.
Ammo made IIRC prior to and through 54 was mostly corrosive.

Much cheaper to load 30-06 yourself than to buy it now days.

Also there are devices for the gas system that will allow one to shoot all kinds of loads.
Below is ammo loaded for the garand. I am not sure if I would trust foreign countries that never used the garand. I would trust those that used the garand. Definitely not the steel case russian ammo.
