Well that went easy, going in to sign my refi today got 3% wanted lower but it is what it is. Been here 2.5 years so really not much to do, dropping from 4-3, really think it should be 2%, Heck cars are at Zero!

3% is pretty damn low for a house.
Mine is a little higher but we will have ours paid off in <2 years so not enough savings to mess with. --- SAWMAN

I was quoted 2.9% on a 15 year. Frank how many years did you sign up for? Some of these closing cost are outrageous. I’ve been quoted $2800-$5200. Maybe I should sell and start over

Didn't do a ref. but tried to borrow 20 k a little over year ago for a project, was going to cost over 5k to borrow and that did not count inset. Place was paid for didn;t owe any thing else ether. Lost my credit with a 500 credit card didn't owe any on it was paid in full every month . on time . Found out it was from using more then 30 % of it and the time the bank was turning it in to the credit reporting. And then get the bill after that.. So was screwed by the banking system. This was then used to try and get more inst. Didn't get the money told them to forget it Still pissed about they think they have ever one in a head lock. JUst my 100 cents jj

You should have opened a "unofficial," shooting range when I told you.

I agree with this statement. But, sometimes staying humble, means living in a house you can afford to pay off before you die. Just my own opinion, very little value.
I'm not being that conservative, but most folks luck into a good job, they get this huge house note because they can now afford it on paper then job disappears, or the wife was working and lost her job. It's tough. I've been looking at land and should have bought it 10 years go. I keep telling myself what if I get hurt or disabled? I don't have it all, but I could survive, where people that had only been out of work a week already couldn't pay their rent. I've had more. I've had less. Its hard out there. I stay scared. Keeps me from going overboard.

I've been shopping with a few different credit unions for a refi. What's hurting me though is credit utilization with my cards. I'm still paying on them from when I had an emergency shoulder reconstruction and planned on using part of the refi to payoff all the credit card bills. I'm currently at 6% and I'm only getting offers at 5%. Still trying to find somewhere that will do it at 4% or less while I work on getting my score up. It's a damn racket for sure.

A lot of people aren't that fortunate. Stay humble.

I was taught early on to pay cash for whatever I could, we had good shrimping, crabbing, or oyster seasons but we also had bad ones and the past several years have been BAD for seafood. Just like farming you need to be able to float through a year sometimes with almost zero income. I don’t see it as bragging, my wife and I paid for our little house making less than 35k combined income. Having it paid off has allowed us to live a better lifestyle, and we used the money we saved from not paying rent/mortgage to make other investments, but it was tuff getting where we are now.

I never, never saw the logic in having a mortgage for the interest deduction...if you have the money to pay it, then pay it off, quit feeding bankers

what good is a 4000 sq ft house with 4-5 br, and a crushing note every month.. two weeks without pay, you are in the crapper...

My job brought me to the Gulf Coast when I was just a couple months short of turning 51. I moved several times during my career and never built up much equity in any of my previous homes. I bought a nice but somewhat modest home here and got a 15 year mortgage, not wanting to be paying for it well into retirement age (or not living to see it paid). I managed to pay it off in just over 13 years, and am glad I did. Not patting myself on the back, just telling my story. I'm certain others have done much better than I.

It’s the same with big businesses apparently. The first week into this “Pandemic” they where crying for a bailout. I couldn’t believe what a complete house of cards most large corporations are, I mean don’t they have any working capital in reserve? I knew most people lived like that because I’ve worked around them my entire life, they make a decent living wage but just blow it on stupid stuff or borrow beyond what they could ever pay off.
