That is one absolute rule that the dogs have got down pat. In the house they say off the furniture. I will let only one of them at a time sleep on the floor of the bedroom.
Here is one of mine showing his expertise at sleeping in his dog house.

I have noticed something similar on the part of one of my females that has thrown thrown as an old time shepherd mastiff. White English dogs are a mixture different breeds that have been used by southern farmers since spanish colonial times and these days one is never absolutely sure how a particular dog will throw. They are not a pure breed in most cases. I badly snore and before she got used to it I have awaken in the middle of the night with her hovering directly over me. Dogs have been used to detect various medical crises in people with certain chronic medical illnesses and may even be able to detect cancer. They are descended from predators and wolves will single out the ill and presumably the weaker animal in a herd to attack.Although not trained for it, our dogs have woken me up at night due to me being in afib. Our female was adopted at 6 weeks, our male was rescued at 2 years. Neither of them have had any specialized training. But when I came home from the hospital after having my third ICD (I broke the lead to ICD number 2) implanted they laid with the heads on my chest all night. My wife said they didn't sleep at all that she knew of. Whenever she came into the room, she said their eyes were open with the heads still on my chest.*
Whenever I've had any type of cardiac issues they tend to hover around me until I get back to my new normal. If they are going to keep me alive, I guess I can share the bed with them. Besides they take turns sleeping in the bed, kind of like they are taking shifts.........

Originally they were fighting dogs. I do not know what they are like now.
i am sure they are good companions. They are now strictly companion animals. When the Brits outlawed bull baiting some fellow bred them for gentleness and being a companion animal. They are not considered outside dogs. Mine never leave my side. I go to the gun room, so do they. I go to watch TV, yep they're right beside me. They are the funniest breed of dog I have ever had. They get into running fits, turn flips and just go berserk. They also do a weird thing called "trancing". They focus on something and start moving towards it like they're in slow motion, then they snap out of it and take off.
Our little Buddy was the same. He found us and stayed for 15 years. Miss him every day.Best dog ever, JJ (Jumping Jack) just showed up one day and has been here ever since. View attachment 80809
